Large flower spikes with purple flower bracts that attract the Bees all summer. Plant in moist, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Although the leaves can be used for flavouring, this Sage was traditionally used for medicinal purposes and it's the other varieties - the Salvia officinalis herbs that are commonly used for culinary purposes - see the Berggarten, Common, Golden, Purple and Tricolor varieties.
